Pruning

This is your chance to prune back shoots on your Hydrangeas, Wisteria and Winter Jasmine and also to finish pruning your fruit trees and bushes before the new spring growth comes.
Take advantage of the special offer on the bypass pruners and as you are pruning, look out for any tiny pest eggs on the bases of stems and remove now before they become a real problem later in the Spring.

We recommend: Medium 'Chunky' Bypass Pruners

Vegetable Garden

Now is the time to plan your vegetable garden. All the vegetable seeds are now in stock, so start planning where you are going to have your patch and start digging it over, but don't forget to come and choose your seeds as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The Beetroot 'Boltardy' is one of the most popular seeds sold and is such a versatile vegetable. It can be roasted, pickled or simply shredded into salads and the tops can be used like spinach.

We recommend: Beetroot Seeds 'Boltardy'

Seed Potatoes

All the seed potatoes are now in stock. There is a much larger selection available on-line this year, so take your time planning what sort of potatoes you like eating before you buy. There is a large selection of earlies if you love new potatoes, like the rocket variety. If you love potato salad, then the charlotte variety is very popular or if you fancy a change try the pink fir. The main crop varieties give you the larger potatoes ideal for baking, roasting and mashing so make sure you plant enough of these to see you through the season. Arrange the seed potatoes on trays now to chit (this is when they start sprouting). They are then ready to plant out in tubs or beds.
